ramblin’ thoughts

Before I rush off to the ski hill to squeeze in some downhill practice before rushing off to frolic in Yellowstone for the weekend, I simply must share some thoughts, words, responses!*

Any guesses on what tiny size helmet I wear?

*I know. I’m the luckiest and the most ridiculous and I’m jealous of me too. Living in a ski town at the outer edge of Yellowstone is a surreal dream but it also includes struggles. There you have it; I am not immune to current events or to life’s regular tribulations. I promise.

Y’all! TAJ had some big feels about Ouray Hot Springs not making my top five hot pots list! Since I enjoy sharing our humorous moments with you, here’s a snippet of the interaction:

TAJ: You forgot Ouray! [incredulous]

Sprite: I did mention Ouray in the list. [smirk emoji] It didn’t make the top five so I didn’t review it.

TAJ: But it’s SO big. Don’t you remember it?

Sprite’s thoughts: That’s exactly why it didn’t make top five. Did you not pick up on the pattern of small + private-ish = quaint as my preference?

Sprite: If I had realized there were only eight then I would have reviewed all of them but I ran out of time. Maybe I’ll offer a second article of reviews once I hit ten. I did love the view from Ouray [sweep of hand].

Aaaaand now I owe you another article on hot pots. Good thing I’ll be testing out Yellowstone Hot Springs this weekend for you. wink! Also, I’m not kidding about meeting you in Dillon. You’re not off the hook. [stern teacher look]

P.S.: If you want the full commentary, it involves a dialogue on our local hot springs options.

P.S.S.S: Yes, it’s obvious now to you that TAJ reads my wandering rambles of blog posts and yes, I do understand the repercussions for sharing our life with you. You’re welcome for doing it anyway.

Thank you Slizzle for this Butte. Ok, fiiiine. More accurately, thank you to her Android phone!

Next order of biz…

As I begin practicing very specific writing skills, should I let that crossover here in this space? I’m generally a fan of creative writing rather than very goal oriented writing (aka overly obvious thesis statements along with five formulaic paragraphs I’m already snoozing but I have to walk the walk if I begin teaching these basics to the next gen). Are you cringing yet? I am. So the big news this week is (drum roll) I’ve applied for an English teacher license and an English Teacher position. Studying for exams includes a written portion. Dare I practice with you?

TTC: thoughts to consider

Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate, and to humble.
— Yehuda Berg

Also, grammar. Wow, I get it—it’s quite laughable that my atrocious grammar of a Georgia cliche variety causes one to wonder, “how will I ever impart correct grammar?” However, who am I to refuse the next generation of all the fun with words we can have together?! Words are power. I’ll leave you with this concept. Let our words be powerful in kindness, in justice, in grace. (But you couldn’t just leave it there, LK, could you? You gotta state the “read between the lines” comment. Don’t you? Yup, sure do. [eyebrow raise] Use your words, friends. Use them wisely, use them loudly, use them appropriately. Please and thank you.)

Lao Tzu quote

Watch your thoughts,
for they become your words.

Watch your words,
for they become your actions.

Watch your actions,
for they become your habits.

Watch your habits,
for they become your character.

Watch your character,
for they become your destiny.
